Default T Top adjustment

Can anyone tell me how to close up thwe gap between the 2 tops. Mine is almost 3/4 of an inch and the sides are sticking out 1/4 of an inch out side the halo. It looks like the round pin with the 2- 1/4" 12 point bolts are adjustable but how can I adjust the back part. It seems like the bolt on the halo with the triangle is frozen and it looks like not much adjustment in its pocket on the top itself. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,
The 71 AIM indicates dimensions of .10" to .14" (about 1/8") between the roof panels, and .16" to .20" ( a little less than 1/4") between the rear of the top panels and the halo.
All 4 adjustment points need to be used to successfully align the roof panels to the halo and to each other. So you'll need to try to get the wedge pin loose using something like wd40.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,
Thanks for the reply, Are you saying the wedge pin does adjust laterally? And there is no adjustment on the T top itself?

Thanks again,

Mike

Hi Mike,
Yes, the wedge stud screws into a plate mounted in a little cage in the lock pillar. When the screws are loose there's a little bit of up and down and side to side movement.
Also, just how well the wedge is aligned with the receiver in the rear corner of roof panel affects how the corner of the roof panel and the curve in the halo align.
The roof panels are a trip to work on because everything you do at one corner affects the opposite corner. It's really a juggling act!
Regards,
Alan

Mike, I have the same issue so I will be watching this to see if you are successful. I have tried twice to adjust mine but was paying more attention to the area between the rear of "T" tops and halo.

Hey Alan, thanks for the advice. I saw the other T top thread and followed that. I had all the adjustments loose, put the top on and set them from inside. This worked out pretty good. I got my 3/4" gap between the tops down to 3/8". The outbord edges are pretty well lined up with the halo. My wedge bolts are all the way in. I would like to go in a little more with them though. Has anyone ever filed the holes more to get more adjustment out of them? All in all, 90% better.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,
I guess you could try enlarging the holes.
I'm not sure if the amount the wedge can move is limited by the holes or by the cage the backing plate is held in.
Might just work!

Alan
