Good luck with MIL
Keep a piece of sandpaper on car so when you run your hand across fender you get a little more done each time you pass.

So be sure to keep checking in, hopefully you find a few chuckles and get encouraged. And keep checking in on the car. Gives you something to look forward too and is a reminder of less stressful times. And even though you may not lay a wrench or hammer on her, you may get to see some other ideas and think of more things you would like to do. That still counts as getting something done - even if it just formulating a plan of attack for when you do have the opportunity to get back to her. Rest easy man, we are praying for you. "All things work together for good". Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks Everyone. The/My PTSD is really taking advantage of the situation, but the good news is......my wonderful mother-in-law is beginning to respond to the therapy. She was never able to go home and start the grieving process after Father-in-law died (she has been hospitalized all this time).
She keeps saying she doesn't have long left (similar to what my father-in-law said three months before his unexpected death).......we live in different cities on opposite sides of the Mississippi River, so we are trying to make it as easy as possible for her.
Thanks again Everyone!

My wonderful mother-in-law will live with us rather than stay in a rehab hospital........we will take her to a rehab clinic daily to help her become mobile again.
Maybe my PTSD will also "back off" so I can get the Vette off the jackstands after several months!
Your a good Man and you will be greatly blessed for it.
I have my 91 yr old Mother with me.other family members want her in some facility.she has been blessed with good health ,she and my German shephard are good palls.isn't it funny that doing the right thing isn't difficult.
I wouldn't worry about the vette DG. We'll be here after your MIL is well.

Good luck
Thanks for the encouragement R.R./the experience 7t9/the humor Calo!
I DID manage to clean up my side of the garage after leaving tools/air hoses/welding leads/sanding-grinding dust in the same spot under the car since March.
The transition without my father-in-law asking every week........"How is the Corvette coming along?"............is rough, but something as simple as cleaning up my work area was a big step in dealing with his death.
I'm thinking that this is the time,,,,,, He will be helping You.
He will be with You.
You are a Very Strong Man. Finish This and take Him for a RIDE.
It's Time,
Bill
Thanks Bill...........It will happen/just a matter of working through the grief........and the PTSD from Viet Nam ( )
I have been following other Member's advice by checking in and reading other threads to gain knowledge about repairs I need to make.
I WOULD like to finish the rear fiberglass conversion so I can have the car painted from the LOCK PILLARS rearward so I can install the new tail lights and the chrome bumpers (the car is a 1968 VIN model that a previous owner converted to a 1976 tail light/front grill design.
I sit under the rear of my coupe, look up and see slathered-disaster in both rear corners of the tail light area. Sometimes I wonder why I took-on this project. Then I look at all you've accomplished (it's beautiful BTW), and say to myself not to give up, that it's doable in light of all you've done.
It's okay to take a break, stand back, and ponder. The light at the end of the tunnel is not an on-coming train.

You took on this project because you know you can rescue it. You came this far, and you know you're not the type to stand in front of the train. Step to the side and let the train go on by. Let the light wash over you and get back on it when you can. Springs here and you can be back on the road by summer. Besides this is the coolest story on the board and we can't wait to see what you do next!!!!

Thanks You Guys.......That would be a good thing to be rolling by Summer......even if only the back half of the car is fully converted and painted.......then I would only be TWO years behind schedule
We are still settling my mother-in-law in at our home.......and having a rough time with grief about my father-in-law. Things will fall in place slowly.......and thanks again.

Mine's been hanging around on the back-burner for 15 years. Now that I'm retired, I've been rockin' and rollin' since November and no closer to any kind of a date to finish. Still, I keep working.

I have a strong urge to finish filling in the "V" on the grafted tail light section Monday....

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
