CE 512 block dated 6th April '70, look's like new inside, I have no doubt that it's std.The rest of the engine is adorned by tri power stuff. Everything is dated prior to Nov '68.
At some stage carbs have been changed out to change-overs.....current carbs are off a '67.
I'm afraid that it has no commercial value. Please ship it to me for appropriate "disposal.". I'll even pick up the air freight cost. That's just the kind of guy that I am.
I've seen similar ones for sale at a huge range of prices up to $25k but have never seen one sold. The tripower setup is conservatively worth $2500 to $3000. The CE standard short block should easily be worth $4k. Maybe $1k for the heads(absolute guess)? Pulleys and accessories (if Corvette) are $1500. Ignition ( if stockish) maybe $500?
My guesstimate would be at the very least $9500.

All pulleys are original Vette, distributor is TI(with box,still has TR bolts attatched)dated 8 F 24, alt is 1100882 25 K 8,fan hub is dated 10/68.
It's worth more as parts than it is as a complete engine. The CE block precludes it from having any value from a restoration standpoint, which is where the big money would be.
it is probably even a 454.. unless they sold the block empty bare and put a 427 crank in it. I expect a april 70 512 block to be a 454.
it is a bunch of not date matched parts that someone can put together and sell to some sucker for a high price. why would someone pay top dollar for a engine with a stamp that would not match their car and the dates on the parts don't line up?... get a crate, with a guarantee.. much cheaper.

The only way it would have big $$ value would be if it had a partial VIN which some owner needed returned to the car it was originally installed. There may be some value to another if they're looking for a 'restoration' block, correct date code for a project, maybe a restamp... The engine as a whole probably would have less value than the parts since the date codes span 3 years.
