Default Gas Tank Paint

What is the best paint to use on the gas tank to make it look close to when it was new?

Thanks,
Danny

Hi Danny,
Since the tank was originally plated you really can't get a paint that's close to that.
TankTone from Eastwood may be a good choice. It's sorta the right color and makes the tank look nice.
If you could figure out a way to mimic the darkened area around the seam from the weld heat it would look even better.
Regards,
Alan

Alan, did you replate your tank?

Hi FC,
No, that's TankTone.
No money in the budget for a new tank.
I believe since the tank material was plated before the tank parts were formed, assembled, and welded, the results of re-plating would still have the heat zone tell tale.
Regards,
Alan

I wanted mine to be durable so I used silver POR 15.

If you don't need to have it look like factory condition, just clean the outside well and paint it with a good epoxy product.
