Gas Tank Paint
Since the tank was originally plated you really can't get a paint that's close to that.
TankTone from Eastwood may be a good choice. It's sorta the right color and makes the tank look nice.
If you could figure out a way to mimic the darkened area around the seam from the weld heat it would look even better.

No, that's TankTone.
No money in the budget for a new tank.
I believe since the tank material was plated before the tank parts were formed, assembled, and welded, the results of re-plating would still have the heat zone tell tale.
