Default C3 Engine Bay

Hi I have been looking round in the UK for a 70s C3 Corvette. Every car I have seen (4 so far) looks great until the bonnet goes up and their sits an old looking engine and rightly so for the year. What I want to know is can any one in the UK recommend some place that can bring the engine look back to life by polishing degreasing painting and of course loads of shine (chrome) bits. If you have had it done pics would be grateful. We are based in the north but will consider going any where based on work and price. please feel to e-mail at johnguibal@yahoo.com ...........constructive replies only...! Thanks John Guibal This site has a feel of CCCUK....! PS its doesn't have to be concourse standard just clean and a new look with life..!

Having refurbished the engine compartment myself, I can't imagine paying someone "per hour" to do that job. It would be VERY time-consuming and costly. Folks that normally detail engine compartments do so on cars that have never been that dirty. I doubt that any of them would have any interest in removing 40 years worth of grease/grime/dirt.

If it is particularly greasy, you might consider having the engine compartment and undercarriage steam-cleaned to remove most of the crud.

Hi and many thanks for taking the time to reply. Now days things have changed including equipment and man power. Long since have gone the manual way. I have three specialists companies that undertake complete restorations not that I am looking to go that far but some way yes. If you have enough spare time on your hands and the skill to go it alone then bon courage, as I and many members don't. I am however with respect looking for a little more than a steam clean, brush and polish. I sent Corvette Kingdom a photograph and much to my amazement they gave me a good quote including chrome parts and man hours. Whilst still in four figures it looks to be worth every penny and is a complete overall of old working parts but stops shy of been concourse condition lol but is what most clients and laymen alike are looking for nowadays, on what are out dated tired old engines that unearthed have life and lots of it, just have to dig a little. Regards John Guibal

My point was, that if you got the grime off of it, more "detailers" would be interested and the cost might be considerably less.

Wish you the best..
