While searching along ebay and craigslist for a few months I found two this week that would be decent candidates for a restoration. What do you think about these two?
This one would be a little less work. Big blocks are awesome. Just not too crazy about an automatic C3. However, the removeable back glass is way too cool .
Just from browsing this site over the last few months you guys have already taught me lots. I come home in January from my deployment and hopefully will have a new project waiting for me upon my return.
Hi Josh,
WELCOME!!! first Post!
2 VERY different cars!
I'd think the bb 72 has more up side, but it depends on what each of them can be bought for.
I think most people feel that for someone buying their first Corvette they should buy the best car they can possibly afford. Spending more upfront almost always pays off over the the long run.
You will need to be VERY CAREFUL about rust in both cars since they're described as having been 'sitting'. Where have they been sitting?
Do you have a place and the inclination to do some pretty serious work on an old Corvette?
Regards,
Alan

Thanks guys, thanks for the replies already. I knew you guys would square me away and glad I asked. Alan, I grew up in a shop and restored a 74 nova while I was in high school. I've got my civilian career going well and have the means and skills necessary for a project. The 68-72 just has my fancy. All of them before 78 really. I've always been attracted to that body style.
I'm looking for something "unmolested" I can spend some time on. Don't think the blue one is for me. Depending on how high it goes. I'd like to remove all that stuff, it's just not for me. She needs to be brought back to reality in my opinion. I try to stay true with my vehicles. A 4 speed between 68-77 is what I will probably end up with. A/C living in the south is a must.
Look at the video in post 3 and to see the flame throwers in action. Jump to 4:30. IMHO
You are making a good choice waiting for a 4spd. And in looking at the pics this 72 needs paint, interior work, thought I saw chrome chipping in one shot, so it is best to move on. Good luck.
I see automatics begging to be bought, and 4 speeds selling at a clip.
Just a thought. I never would buy an auto.
Ever drive a 2 speed Powerglide? Yuck.
This is a no brainer to me - the price differential will weed out the
lower price folks.
I wouldn't buy either of these cars.
I live in Pensacola Florida. Although, I'm currently deployed for the Army National Guard. Coming home in a few months. You're exactly right about there being way too many automatics for sale.
