Here is a sad picture of my '75 before owned it. You can see the correct hook-ups of the vacuum lines to the EGR and EFE TVS (the previous owner snapped a nipple of the EFE TVS and thought he could get away with a vacuum plug on the EFE actuator?).

I'm guessing you have an L-48? Check out Doc Rebuild's page, you can zoom in on his kit and see the correct ports for a quadrajet.

Mine is a L-82 with headers, and that would explain why the EFE acuator is gone..I wonder if my egr valve would work if I used the tvs that is still in place for the EFE acuator ?? Thanks for your help

Unfortunately no, the EFE TVS actually closes with warm-up, the EGR TVS opens with warm-up.

Yes but not a whole lot. The thermal in TVS means the switch is getting its temperature reading from the circulating coolant.

A "little" coolant to some of us might be a lot to other members....(to me---anything less than a quart is a little....LOL!)

Just in case, I would have the new switch ready and reachable/a cloth ready to absorb any spilled coolant on the engine....then unscrew the old switch...have a thumb ready (on a COLD engine) to press over the threaded hole until you can stick the new threaded switch into place and tighten it making sure the vacuum ports are pointed in the correct direction.

Will I need any thread sealer or teflon tape on the new one to get a good seal ?

A little insurance always helps. It is not an electrical switch so the sealant will not create a ground issue.

So it will be ok to install it if the threads are wet from coolant that has leaked out ?

Just dry the threads off with a rag. That compound is pretty much waterproof in any case.

I haven't been having any luck finding this,, seems to have been discontinued or very hard to get... Would it run ok if the egr was connected to the vac. port that the tvs is connected to ? Or better not to run the egr at all ? Thanks
