Until you find the TVS I would just disconnect the EGR. That assumes you do not have visual emissions inspections in your area.

I ended up uncovering the Vette today since it was in the 60 and Took a couple of pics of my EGR looks like and where it connects on my 1977 which should be the same as a 1978.

Great, thanks for the pics... It looks like the vac. line runs straight back to the carb.. I think my vac. advance is plugged into the same port on the carb.. I have a tee that i can use ..

It plugs in where my finger is at on the second picture and not into the carb. It goes into the intake manifold my engine is still all original with only a little over 45,500 miles on it and these are all original vacuum lines.

If needed I can take better pics tomorrow since I will be driving all weekend before I cover it up again for winter.

I have not read back but have you posted any pictures of your engine that I can look at? I can help you with this

Take this advice. You should not link the EGR vacuum to the ignition vacuum advance.

Confused I traced the EGR to this port on the Intake Manifold then took the picture. This is not even close to the vacuum advance on which is located on the HEI Ignition system on the back side of the engine.

Everything in my pictures is on the intake manifold and really has not much to do with the ignition system.

None of the vacuum lines I have in the picture lead to the Distributer on the back side of the engine.

Sorry but should just have not responded to avoid arguement

I have no plans to connect the egr to the vac. advance .. I guess my post wasn't very clear.. Sorry about that.. My egr/tvs switch is in the manifold just like yours but one of the ports on it is broken and the other port had a vac. line that ran to a port on the carb.. The broken port would have had a vac line that ran to the egr valve.. I have it all disconnected until I get the new tvs switch that I have ordered.. Any aditional picture that you would like to take showing vac. lines and how everything is connected would be great, it would be good to compare so I make sure that mine are correct.. Once again i'm sorry for the confusion ...
