Default 69 front clip fitting problem

I am hoping someone can come up with a simple and easy solution for me. I am trying to fit a donor clip and things generally line up OK, but there is a problem where the rad support rests on the crossmember below it ( a flat V shaped hunk of metal about 3 feet long).
It looks like the frame extensions are too short because the holes for the rad support won't line up with the inner fender mounting points. In other words, if the support is sitting on the crossmember in the right place, the bolt holes in the inner fender are about 1 1/2" in front of the support.
I hope this picture came through and is useful, never tried a pic before.
Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan,
Here's a picture from my 71 that I took for someone else. Does it help you judge if the cross member, core support, and large horse-shoe bumper brace are in the right relationship?
I believe there is fore and aft adjustment in the mounting of the cross member to the frame extensions, and the frame extensions to the frame horns.
Have you checked those?
Where does that large center bracket want to mount the bumper relative to the body?
Have you checked that?
Regards,
Alan

This near the center of the crossmember and core support.

i don't think there's 1 1/2 inches of adjustment in the frame extensions. i would guess (a dangerous thing to do) that the inner fender is bonded in an incorrect position relative to the clip. bubba may have been at work here.
alan, could you get a measurement showing your surround-inner fender position and post a pic?

Thanks for the responses guys. Alan, the measurement you show is what I have at that point. I have tried to sneak everything as far forward as I can regarding the play in the mounting holes in both extensions and the xmember.
jnb, I thought the inner fender loc might be off but the small triangular braces between the front of the inner fender and the xmember are in the correct location. Even if they weren't, I couldn't blame Bubba for it because I'm the one who re-bonded them, so obviously they're perfect https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ilies/rofl.gif
One of my many problems is that I don't have a front bumper yet (procrastination is a terrible thing, maybe) so I can't tell if the U shaped brace is in the correct position.
BTW, How would I make a picture larger for a post? I'm afraid as a computer user I make a great carpenter.

Hi Dan,
Go to Photobucket and enter 'photo size' in the SEARCH block.
That will take you to instructions on how to set the size at which your photos are stored.
I believe the setting I use is 'Forum' size.
I'm not very good on computers either but Photobucket, and posting pictures here, is pretty easy once you do it a few times.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan, I find the problem with computers is they do what you tell them to do rather than what you want them to do.
