Thanks for the lead in to the website....just found out my Vette's "birthday" was November 8, 1974!!! This makes her 39 years old...2 days ago!!!!.... I'll think I treat her to some Premium Fuel and an oil change (cheap date...well sort of)

The time/build code in the upper right corner of your trim tag gives you the date the tag was attached.
ChopperBob: you could begin with the DMV of the state where the car was last titled when you knew it and try a title search. You may get some clues, although the DMV will be limited to what they can tell you.
It will just make you sick when you hear the price and think what you probably sold it for but what a great feeling to ride in it again with past memories.
You had much better luck than I have. I had the same car, '68 L79 w two tops, Silverstone Silver, black int...VIN 194678S406500 but mine is no where to be found.

If you have a friend at the local Police station....they can run the VIN and tell you if it is still in your State.
I found my ' 78 that way.....but it was written off in a bad accident [ the idiot that wrote it off, it was okay].
No surprise the price is high...the place in Indiana PA selling it plays the game always...and doesn't barely know how to work on them. I asked them if they knew someone who could do a full alignment, and they couldn't tell me. How you can you be in the Corvette business and not know that?
