I have been contemplating joining the NCRS. I've been all over their website looking for local chapters, regional events, things like that.
I come up empty, seems like you have to join to find this information.
So if any of you NCRS members could tell me what the closest chapter might be to Las Vegas, NV I sure would appreciate it.
I may still join if nothing is close, as I'm sure there is a wealth of information to be gained from the organization anyway.
Hi Ss,
If you go to the NCRS Home Page and scroll down the page you'll see a statement about Contacts.
If you click on CONTACTS you see a list of Contact People and a list of Chapters.
You don't need to be a member to navigate the home page.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
Thans Pete and Alan. I figured S CA may be the closest. I'll join up in the near future. My car will never be judged, but I figure the information will be quite useful.
Hi Ss,
Thinking you'll NOT have your car Flight Judged is a perfect reason to join the NCRS.
You'll be able to meet people who care about old Corvettes, see an assortment of interesting cars, and maybe even begin to be a part of some Flight judging.
Then the thought of having your car Flight Judged might just become something you'd like to do.
Have Fun!
Regards,
Alan

I second Alan on reasons for joining. There are chapters in AZ, Central and South CA. You don't have to go to a chapter meeting to get benefits. The magazine and "Driveline" add newsletter are great.
I'm sure you'll enjoy being a member at both chapter and national levels. The only people that don't enjoy it are the type that bring a baseball bat to a football game and expect everyone to change the rules for them.
Hi Ss,

I am not a current member, but I joined a while ago EXACTLY for that reason and ended up getting a 3rd Flight for my '66. You can learn a lot if you are so inclined.
I got a lot of very useful information from those guys.
I went to a chapter judging meet just to observe how they do things, maybe I'll try to get my car judged one day.

For what you have get in return for your $35, Driveline (tons of ads for parts, misc, etc), Restorer Magazine and webbased information...can't beat the price and especially if you own a Corvette you maintain
The online forum is helpful as well. When I'm challenged with something I often post on both forums to get different perspectives. My car is original, but I have no interest in getting it judged.

Great info on the Technical Discussion Board with some of the most knowledgeable guys you will find on the internet.
Information gets a little scarce for '73+, but what is there is always very insightful.
Agree with all of the above posted here. My 72 LT1 Top Flighted at our chapter in Aug 97.2 with some tough judges. The website is very helpful.

Personally I think joining NCRS was probably the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. Maybe others get something out of it but there are no chapters anywhere close to me and I think "The Restorer" publication isn't worth taking out of the wrapper.

If $35 was the biggest waste of money you've ever spent, you've done pretty good!
What about the restorer didn't you like? Did you ever make it to an event?
I ask because nothing is perfect and constructive criticism is always welcomed.
I'm happy to have joined the NCRS. I like their restoration articles and lists of restoration companies. I'm not sure the NCRS would like me. Nothing about my 68 and 70 vetoes that are to NCRS standards!!!
