What's Your Choice
for days when its not sunny and traffic sux and I just want t get home - auto all the way
for days when the top can come off and I can drive past my house into the winding west ga 2 lanes - 4 speed
I'm kind of surprised to her that as I've noticed the opposite around here. My observations have been that as Corvettes age and are purchased more for toys then daily drivers the manuals become worth more, all else being equal.
Your mileage may vary....
Both my Corvette's are automatics because I found good solid cars and that's what they had in them.
Since I started this thread it would be nice to tell you what I've got. 1981 (I bought in August off this forum), coupe, medium garnet red metallic, polished alloys with spinners, black leather, Eckler true quad custom straight pipes, new Blacked Out Pace Performance 350/330...........4 speed.
The wife is scared of Renegade. She says he's too fast, too loud and too little.
I go with a 4 speed, for resale, if nothing else.
Beautiful auto sit for months, while crappy 4 speeds move
faster in the market.
The fun factor is it, as well - you can manhandle the car with the manual,
not so much with the sissy tranny.
It's also a good "can I drive your Vette" deterrent since most people can't drive sticks. :agree:
I am 22, and I was given my 72 by my dad when I was 15. I didn't have a license, virtually no experience with a car with no power steering, brakes, ac, standard, etc. Don't get me wrong, I had been around all of it most of my life, but I just had never driven anything like that. I will never forget it, we were just outside of Chicago having come from Wisconsin on the shoulder of an entrance ramp. We had just swapped seats as he turned to me and said, "See those big rigs passing us at 70 MPH…just know that once you're ready and pull out…IF you FK up…..we are goners! Take a moment to practice going through gears, when you're ready to take flight, spread your wings and go!" Well I made it, and we went all over the US, and it was so much fun. It was hot, but it was so much fun.
As far as the Tv's go, my grandparents had 20-30 year old Tv's back in the 90s. I grew up watching old shows, movies, and the only way they were cooler was to be watching them on original Tv's that were new when the shows were new. I am not your typical young punk, I might be 22, but I am more like my dad who's in his mid 50's. I listen to all types of music from classical, civil war, 40s, 50s,60s,70s,80s,90s,…most of todays music such as rap does not interest me.
In fact, I manage a frozen yogurt shop, and I enjoy chatting with older guys who pass through my shop. I even met a fellow CF member with a really nice C6 Z06. I made a really great impression on my buddy, Gary, who owns a black 52 Ford F1. He is the original owner, and has been sitting in his barn for 15 years. I talked him into bringing it to my car show. He fixed it, and brought it. The tires blew out on him. I know it isn't a show truck, but it is an honor to have someone tell you that they like you enough to pass down their "baby." He said when he passes away, I can have his truck. I really am more interested in what elders have to say than most of the morons my age. Sad I know, but I just feel stupid talking to most of them. They are idiots. I am not better than them, but I just feel like I am smarter. Anyways, just my 2 cents on it.
Here is the truck:

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Brandons72vette- I believe we may have run into one another here in Tyler (outside the Subway near Broadway and the Loop). If you manage the yogurt place near where the photos were taken I'll be sure to swing by at some point to talk Vette...
i also think some people are follow the leader types and copy others when its not really what they want......

I have to disagree with the restomod note. If you read the CarCraft, Chevy mags, the guys are putting in TKO and T-56 in these autocross and restomod Camaros, GTOs etc. The older guys are putting in 700r4s in the cruise night rides.
Today i have a M20 in my 1972 but there is a Supercased M22 on its way from Riverside Gear to my garage.

I was looking into the 5-speed segment but i dropped those ones becouse they could not give me the long 1st gear and the close ratio i wanted and that the M22 have.
