I've had 5 Corvettes, two were automatics, and three were 4 speeds.
No comparison 4 speeds are much more fun.
My current '71 and '72 are 4 speeds.

my 1st was a 70 with a 4 speed. . last one i had was a 72 with an auto. when i bought the 72 i wanted a 4 speed but also wanted to buy the best condition original BB i could find. i settled for the auto but sold it 4 years later. if it was a 4 speed it would still be in my garage. to me a vette has got to be a manual trans. automatic was like driving a station wagon, JMO

Love my recently acquired '72 454 4speed. Crazy thing is that I had never driven a stick before and taught myself on this beast! A blast to drive!!!

After I totaled the '68 I had with a powerglide the main criteria for a replacement Vette was it had to be a 4 speed. I was only 18 back then but I knew it had to be a stick.

Nothing beats banging gears for fun. When I was looking for a vette to buy there was one option I couldn't do without and that was a 4 speed.

Banging gears as a kid costs me a few transmissions and rearends - I'm older and wiser so now my 200R4 works very well for me now.

1980 4speed... Keeps my wife from wanting to drive it- she prefers the automatic.
Nothing like changing those gears in my rebuilt 350(375 hp)

I wore my wittle weft weg out on 4-speeds....
Presently a TH350 in need of a rebuild.......
soon to be a 700R4 for highway driving.....
( I needed an excuse to get the engine 2" farther away from the firewall for insulation/exhaust manifold airgap)

The only reason I was even interested in my '74 was because of the 4speed. I'd had 3 speeds on the column, 3 speeds on the floor, automatics column/floor, but no 4 speed. Before I got too old to shove in the clutch, I was bound to have me a 4speed on the floor and I really didn't care what it came in. Wound up getting the best of two worlds, a 4 speed and one heck of a fun car. Have wonnerful weekend, Bill
