I'm about to save up for a crate. The vette is going to be parked for 6 months. Is there any experiences I should ready myself before I place the engine? Such as, tending brakes, brake line..etc.

You only need to work on those things that already need work. You can change engine/transmission without impacting any other systems...with the exceptions of re-filling and 'burping' any power steering lines/pump if you need to open the system and doing the same for the radiator.
