Default Q-Jet Rebuilder

While hunting thru eBay listings, I happened across 2 rebuilders who claim to specialize in Rochesters, both rebuilds, kits and components. One is Mountain Man Fuel Systems out of Hackett, Arkansas and the other is Ninja Fuel Systems out of Murrayville, Georgia. Anyone had any experience with either? And if so, good, bad or otherwise?

Send it to Lars (v8fastcars@msn.com). You'll find plenty of positive reviews for him here on the forum.

I’m sorry and no disrespect intended, but, with all the Qjet threads and discussion on this forum, you went to eBay for a builder?

Around here, Lars is the man. My 2008 rebuild is still purring like you know what. I've heard good things about Mountain Man, also has good components. Ninja I have no experience with.

Thanks Pete. I was pretty much anticipating that response, but was looking for a rebuilder with a lil bit shorter turnaround time. Yes, everyone raves about Lars, and I may ultimately wind up going there, but hate to have my "baby" laid up for months at a time. BTW, I've been trying to locate his papers on Q-jet and HEI mods. Can you point me in the right direction?

I would say having Lars rebuild your carb would be worth the wait. Considering if someone else don't do it correctly you could be down even longer..

No, not at all, just didn’t make sense to me that’s all! If you know your way around a carb and want to try a rebuild yourself, you can buy Cliff Ruggles book, it’s excellent and walks you through the rebuild if you don’t have the time to wait for Lars of Cliff to do the build for you. They really aren’t that hard unless you have specific issues you want to address or modify for. You can find parts on Cliffs website too.

Best way to get Lars' most up-to-date papers is to email him directly. He answers promptly.

As far as turnaround times, I sent him my carburetor on 12/26/12 and received it on 1/17/13. I would check with him about his current rebuild time, but he is very efficient.

True dat. Was just testing the waters cause it seems to me that in this huge land of ours, there HAS to be more than just 1 competent carb rebuilder. Plus Mountain Man will custom build to your engine specs as does Lars. I believe the calibration on mine is way off with the current exhaust system ('69 side pipes) and 0 ft. above sea level.

I sent mine in on Nov.2 and received it back Nov.14. Just check with him.

I don't think I've ever spent more than 2 weeks turning a carb job around. Where in the world did you get the "months" info..?

And you get my papers by sending me an e-mail request for the papers you would like.

Hi Lars. I hope you didn't take any offense, but I had gathered from general conversation on the forum that at times you get backed up due to high demand, and what I said wasn't meant to step on any toes. Did not mean to imply that you're a slacker, and I apologize if I came across that way. I'll email you directly for any further info. Thanks for responding.
