I always try and respond except for someone is asking about buying parts that I had listed 6 to 12 months ago. In that case I may or may not respond.

Etiquette is sometimes an unwritten practice, and a form of respect.
Even if I haven't logged in for a while, I would still respond, explaining that fact.
If I were listing something for sale, and long since sold it, I would respond informing the person that, also.

I answer PM's, it is the right thing to do.. there is already enough rudeness in this world, without adding to it.

I'm usually on the questioning end of a PM. That is I'm requesting information about a specific part or situation. I appreciate the fact that the members unselfishly share information with me and I try to do the same.

No one ever PM's me.

Then again, I wouldn't PM me either.

I always reply to PMs. I'm flattered that forum members are looking for information I may have. Often the requests come people looking at the web page I built for my '69. http://www.myruffhouse.com/1969_corvette.htm
(I'm using my iPad so I can't use the word LINK to hide the long URL)

Always Also find while they are asking you questions about your car provides me a chance to ask a few of my own about theirs. It is also a great way to meet people in your area by sending a PM offline that also have a corvette and make a new friend.

I just responded to a PM and have had a pleasant PM exchange in the past.

When I first joined this forum I reached out to a member to ask his personal opinion on something. Also wanted to get a sense of the general consensus of the members. He was extremely pleasant and forthright. While totally innocuous, some questions/inquiries are not for public consumption.

As others have stated, proper etiquette & respect.

When I first joined this forum, I found the sticky called "Looking out for each other" under the help section and PM'd the person listed for my region asking a question....I never got a reply, a F off, nothing. I actually run into this person not long ago. I wanted to say something to him but didn't. What an A$$!

Maybe he looked at your "About Me" and didn't like what you have for a name, so he figured "screw you". It wasn't me, but I might have had the same reaction.
