Sure I answer them as best that I can......and end it by saying "Start a thread....then wait for someone who knows what he's talking about to reply".

I answer mine.

I have an AIM. And it is helpful, when you can find what you are looking for. The contents page is horrible.

I agree, it is rude not to reply.

I probably have sent out quite a few PMs to other members when the search function hasnt given me everything Im looking for, but has pointed me in their direction. Ive found these members to be very helpful, and willing to share their expertise.

Its rare that someone sends me a PM for specific information, but Im always glad to help.

As for the AIM, its not something I consult all that often, but it sure comes in handy when you need torque specs for a specific bolt while working on the car.

I answer them. I figure if they took the time to reach out they deserve to be acknowledged, and if I can help, I will.

Don't know if I'm the exception though - I think the response rate to PM's I send might be 3 out of 10 at best.

I wave at others Vette's as well

Do you reply to PM's from strangers??
Only a complete toolbag would not answer a PM from a legitimate forum member who as a question or comment.

If it's not from Publisher's Clearing House, a Somali Via$ra scam, or the Ruskie Mob, then - yep. No problemo.

The original question was posed to all members of this forum. To not respond here is also rude.

I answer all my PMs. I often send PMs to people asking them various things and I'd say 95% of the time they respond. When people don't respond I wonder what's wrong with them.

With my A.D.D., I've noticed that I may have 4 replies in a row to different threads....It seems that I'm either thrilled to be on the forum---or I'm a Post-Hog!

(My apologies for the second possibility)

Maybe I need to P.M. more often.

Not everybody gets a chance to visit the forum on a regular basis. I often go several months without getting a chance to visit the forum between school, work, etc. I get PMs from time to time that are just friendly comments or simple questions where the person isn't in an "I really need to know now..." situation.

When I do finally get back to the forum, I decide whether a response would still be relevant and respond if so. If not, I don't respond. I tend to assume people can easily see if I've been on the forum or not.

So, it may be rude to ignore PMs if you visit the forum regularly, but probably not rude otherwise.

I'd much prefer somebody to send me an email over a PM if they need/want a quick response. At least that way I can just click reply and send the response without having to login to the forum. I generally get my email on my phone rather than from my computer.

You get an email notification of PMs so whether or not you have been on the forum the person knows you got it.
