FOX is a train wreck! They have scooped up all the good stations and constantly diddle with them. I was watching a UFC event and about 1/3 of the way through it, this plastic, bubbly announcer broke in and said "We are now switching to the exciting basketball game...." - really aggravating.
I watched B-J last night. Why do people pay that kind of money for those kinds of cars? It helps us sell ours but hurts us in buying project cars.
"I saw one just about like mine on that Barrett-Jackson show go for $100K. Mine must be worth at least half that. Let's see, the engine is still on the floor in the barn...the wheels and tires are holding the roof of my house trailer down...I used the steering wheel on my racing lawn mower...but the rest is just about all there. I wish I had rolled the winders up last summer...the seats are a little wet now."
I looked at a project '70 'vert base 350 4 speed no air car a few months ago and that is basically what I was told. He only wanted $14K for it like it sat. The car needed absolutely everything from paint, upholstery, air in the rotten tires. I mean everything. It hadn't been started in years. I figured $2500 was big money for it. Guess not.
I'm going to Barrett Jackson tomorrow as it's only about a 30 minute drive from my home. I really feel like these auctions are pricing the average guy out of the market. Seems like a lot of these cars certainly aren't worth what they're selling for. I'm not buying though. Just want to see some nice cars.
I used to think it was the used "Corvette" dealers that were driving the prices up but I guess it's just that there are more people with more money than me that want them.
I have no problem with these auctions. The C3 corvette prices have rebounded a bit. That's great news for us. The C3 is a great sports/muscle car. It's about time that the prices come back up. Doing the fox programming shuffle sux though.
What's not to get? A pace car with 4 miles and only an mso sold at the lambrecht auction this past fall for 80k. So this one with 30 miles and just recently titled sells for 75k. I'd say more than 1 person wants them. And that's what drives the price. Simple.
IIHO that just means there are at least two people with more money than sense.
To each his own. If I was crazy rich I would probably pay too much for something I wanted, too. I don't anticipate that in the near future so I watch my pennies and spend as wisely as possible on my baby.
We'll a top ticket for Sundays NFC championship game is selling for 50k. A fishing lure sold last year for over 100k. Just think, you can own a whole car for 75k.
Seriously, collectors buy and trade cars like stocks. The good news, it brings the price up a little on your car.
That's true. I just begrudge the idea that it makes every seller out there think their junk is worth so much more than it is really ought to be. I'm still upset about the '70 I couldn't (wouldn't) buy as my next project.

production of 6500 + (?)..... there are plenty to go around....
Whats your take on the corvette market or the C3 market up or down?
My opinion is that the earlier years of the C3 generation are beginning an upward swing in prices, especially those equipped with the special hi-performance factory options.
