Hey guys, my windshield header molding is not seating all the way against the windshield, as you can see in the picture you can easily get a paint stick under it, how do I get it to seat properly? Thanks!
Did you set the windshield glass or have it done? I had to use setting blocks to get the windshield to the correct height to make all the trim fit correctly.
Hi Roco thanks for the reply. Actually it was like this when I got the car 1 1/2 years ago and I've only now gotten to the point of really looking at it. Unless I have to pull the windshield to fix this I'd like to go ahead and fix it. Thanks again
Hi AS,
Is the gap pretty consistent across the trim piece's complete length?
Is there any gap on the 2 a-pillar trim pieces?
What is the fit like in each corner where the ends of the long thin piece ducks under the a-pillar trim.
The answers to these questions may indicate whether it's a trim installation problem or a windshield installation problem.
Typically the a-pillar trim and the header trim should be snug against the glass.
A picture of where the long piece meets the a-pillar piece would help.
Regards,
Alan
Hi Alan, The gap all the way across the header molding is consistent. The A pillar trim on the drivers side I can get it down snug onto the windshield and corner of the header molding goes down to but I have to really push on it. I haven't taken the A pillar molding on the passenger side lose.
Here's a couple of pictures on the passenger side, hope they help. Down on the bottom of the A pillar the molding is tight against the glass but up top as you can see the paint stick easily fits under it.
This is not a good picture, sorry, but you can see that when the corner of the molding is pushed down against the windshield it doesn't match up with the T top molding, not sure but that would suggest that the windshield is not in properly, well that's my theory
Hey guys, DUB over on the paint and body section answered my thread over there, here is the thread - not too long of a read, just a few posts. He gave me some really good explanations.
