I'm sorta in the same situation, yes the e bay finds are much lower in cost, but, are they reliable?, I can make better brackets if needed. I'll price some local shops and compare.

Looks like I'll be placing an order there, yes, all the other cheaper ones are all two row and sites with regular brass and copper items don't say how many rows and very little info on them.

Did you see Post #7?

I know several here have had good luck with them, but I'm glad I went DeWitt for mine.

I believe you may have it backwards. Pretty certain that zip-Dewitts aluminum radiator uses 2 rows of fins, which will exceed the heat rejection better than a 4 row copper rad.

I think he was talking talking about the thickness, OEM 2 row size vs OEM 4 row size on the Dewitts

I bought a Champion from E Bay for the 80 I have now and a 77 with a 540 I had. Worked great. Fit was fine. I also bought a set of electric fans off E Bay and they fit and work great.

Sometime a cheaper alternative works just as good as an expensive one.

It's your dime spend it like you want.

I just had a similar situation with my '65 Grand Prix. I pulled the radiator while re-doing the engine compartment. My biggest problem was finding a decent radiator shop that I could trust and know was telling me the truth.

When I found one, I took the rad to them asking for the radiator to be inspected and pressure tested FIRST. If that passed the test, they were to clean it out and do any repairs to the tanks and/or the hose fittings.

He called a couple of days later saying that the radiator was fine and the bill was $15. I felt guilty when I picked it up, so a gave him another $5 out of 'appreciation' for being a straight-up guy. [some places would overpressure the rad just to prove that it needed repair]

Your best shot at finding a radiator place that knows what they're doing is looking for a shop specializing in truck radiators. Commercial equipment still gets their hardware repaired [instead of just replacing everything], and they will do auto stuff...if it's not junk to start with.

For me, I would sooner have the 'original' hardware--as long as it is in good, servicible condition.

Well I did it. I ordered one from Zip and it should be on the road today. 540 posted about 30 min after my order was placed, could've saved over $100, but, I've blown more than that at strip clubs in the past……and still got nothing out of it..!!!
I have feelings of regret for dipping into my tire money now, but, I know as soon as it's all together and looking good, I'll be happy.
