How about voting on this item. Paint it black or leave it natural polished and clear coat it with POR15 Glisten PC... I'm thinking as-is natural. What do YOU think is the question?

I voted before I knew that it was brass. Being that it would be the only brass item in the engine compartment, I'd suggest painting it with VHT aluminum paint. And, if you have an oven large enough to do so, bake it per the instructions on the can. (Don't use the one in the kitchen, if you can help it. Fumes, burn-off vapor residue, etc ) Momma would not be happy...
Hi,
Black!
If it were part of a "brass era" antique car it would be beautiful.
In a Corvette engine compartment….quite out of place to my eye.
Regards,
Alan
