I'm in the process of replacing all the parts after painting. I am now putting the wiper door back together. Does anyone have any suggestions on installing the molding next to the windshield on to the door itself. I don't want to scratch the new paint.
Thanks
Hi c61,
The clips are open enough so that the door trim can be positioned on the door in the right place, taped to hold the trim from moving, (careful putting tape on your new paint), and then the clips tapped into place.
If you're leery of putting tape on your fresh paint you can use some clothes-pin type clamps from the hardware store to clamp the trim in place from the back side between where the clips go.
On 69+ cars it's a little easier because there's a screw or rivet at each end of the trim that can help hold it in place on the door.
The clips have a top and bottom.
Regards,
Alan
