Default Spreadbore Intake with Holly

After rebuilding my Holly I noticed its sitting on an Edelbrock Performer spreadbore intake. It has a plate between the carb and intake, but is there good reason to change the intake to one that is designed more for the 4160 Holly? Seems like its working just fine, but you never know what your leaving on the table.

Anything made for the BB 454 is going to have a spreadbore. What to do?

The regular performer intake has dual bolt patterns for either carb style. Maybe the adapter is acting like a spacer helping top end...or it could be choking air flow??

Just make sure your BB has hood clearance if u make changes. Don't use a hi rise manifold with a short air cleaner!!

The intake has a bolt pattern for both, so maybe it doesn't matter.

Mike, the plate matches the carb and looks like a squarebore to the carb. I don't think that it really matters unless it's when looking for every inch of HP.
