Default windshield

My windshield is cracked and I plan on having it replaced when the car gets painted but I just ran across a windshield on craigs list for $150.00

Is that a good price?
are there any differences in windshields from 68-82,

I do know the year, it is a 68 my car is a 69 should work well I think.

Do you really want to put an old, scratched windshield in your car? I think that a new one is only about $180.00! New door glass is a lot more expensive than the windshield is, go figure. Lou.

Hi J,
Windshields aren't all the same 68-82. The change is the shape of the glass across it's bottom.
The 68 windshield will work in a 69.
Regards,
Alan

I bought a USED one for another project once. Great deal. Moved it around VERY CAREFULLY for about 9 months. When it was time to install it, don't you know that somehow I scratched the edge on the garage floor. As I was putting the final touch on the install CRACK. Pay the money, buy the new. This is one of those jobs that is really easy, compared to other jobs. but one slight mistake and you loose anything you would have saved.

I had mine replaced when I had my coupe painted. I let the guy who painted the car buy it and get it installed. He cut me a deal since he was friends with the glass guy, and just passed it through at his cost. You may want to check with your painter, if he's a stand up guy he might treat you right.
