While others are bickering, I'm still trying to figure out the lower case "L" thing.

I hate it when that happens.

The bickering is actually pretty one-sided. My use of capitals, bold print, and the little foot tapping smiley is simply giving him back what he dishes out. I don't normally post like that, but for him I've made an exception. Based upon the amount of anger in his last post, I don't think he likes it too much.

To the OP and everybody else who just wants to learn, I'm sorry this took a bit of an ugly turn.

I couldn't care less what you think or what you profess. None of us are perfect. But, you THINK you are...
In an attempt to insult me, you've managed to cast your hostility towards certain types of NCRS members- that's a shame. Worse yet, you're wrong- again. While I appreciate what the NCRS stands for and accomplishes, I have no connection to or personal interest in what they do. All of my Corvette friends who know how I approach the hobby would at your remark. My '69 is anything but "correct" and the modifications I've done have been done to increase my driving pleasure.

I don't claim, nor have I ever, to know it all- far from it. The difference is that I'll only post something as fact if I've done the proper research, using trustworthy sources, or if I have first hand knowledge on the matter. Absent that, I'll state that I believe something is true but have not verified it. If I can't add any useful info due to a lack of knowledge, I simply don't post any info.

There are a lot of forum members who, when they're trying to learn about something, depend upon the info they see here. Rather than be misled, they deserve accurate information- anything short of that is useless and can embarrass them later if they repeat it, thinking that it's true.

This discussion isn't about me being perfect or right- it's about you being wrong. I won't resort to using bold or capitalized text anymore, nor will I use the toetap symbol. That appears to antagonize you. Maturity and calmness is our friend.

If you want to have the last word, it's all yours. I'm not interested in derailing this thread any more than has already happened. Do understand that, if I see you continuing to post inaccurate info, I'll still point it out for the good of those who are looking to learn.

We all look up information in our respective 'reference materials'. And, sometimes those reference materials state different information.

But, the fact that my reference info is different than yours caused you to spew venom at me. READ THE POSTS. You were the one who attacked me. Why? Because my rpm numbers were a smidgen different than yours?

Correct yourself on your behavior, and we wouldn't have a 'problem'.

Again, apologies for those who have had to endure this exchange. I'll try just one more time to address the real issues in hopes that they can be resolved and put away for good.

I'm very comfortable that an impartial observer can read the tone of the posts here and figure out who's truly hostile and who's not. I'll be very straightforward in hopes that we can actually accomplish something positive. Let's start with internet etiquette. You have a habit of using capital letters and impatient smilies to express yourself and emphasize your points. Most folks see the use of CAPs or bold print as the internet equivalent of shouting. You may be ignorant of that or maybe you're aware of it and your intent is to shout. I don't know and it's really not a big deal to me. A couple of times I replied to you in the same manner. I'm not sure if that's what you're referring to when you said I spewed venom at you. If so, perhaps you could stop the use of those things, in reciprocation for the fact that I stopped doing so. Fair is fair.

If that's not the "venom" I was spewing, I'm at a loss. Other than that I simply indicated that your info was bad and I even took the time to post links that contained the correct info- something I have yet to see you do. We had a similar discussion some time ago during which I suggested looking into a couple of specific, well established publications that are known to contain accurate Corvette info, but you indicated that you were happy with whatever it is that you use. If you truly want to be credible and helpful on the forum, and have a positive influence on other Vette enthusiasts, the quality of your info is everything.

FYI, my reference for the factory tach redline for the L36 came directly from my instrument panel, where the factory tach on my '69 L36 resides. If you find a reliable reference for the L68 and LS5 tachs, I think you'll find that those factory tachs also have the same 5600 RPM redline.

You said that your redline numbers of 5400 "were a smidgen different" from mine. What's a smidgen, right? Until some poor guy is out there looking for that elusive 5400 RPM redline tach to restore his L36, L68, or LS5- or he sees somebody else's Vette with a 5600 RPM redline tach and tells the owner that he has the wrong tach, because he read so right here at Corvetteforum.

Please take a minute and understand that my real point here is that bad info is...well, bad. It's not personal, it's simply the truth.
