None, at 5500 rpm that I know of. L-36, L-68, and the 1971 LS-5 engines had a redline of 5400 rpm; the L-46 and 1972 LT-1 engines had a redline of 5600 rpm.

If there is one with a 5500 rpm redline, what is it?

Wilcox has just finished with my gauges so I will re-check the red line on the Tach when I get it back.

The L36 redlines at 5600 and the L68 should be the same since it is the same valvetrain but has the 3 deuces. LT1 redline should be above 5600 since it shows that RPM as the power peak but I don't have time to verify that.

5600 rpm for the 1972 LT-1. The prior year's LT-1 engines had higher redline specs.

Yes, I understand that we are talking about a 1972. However, the 5600 RPM redline that you referred to only applies to the LT1s with A/C- the non-A/C LT1s had a redline of 6500.

The reason is stated here- http://www.vettefinders.com/index.cf...ifications.htm

And here- http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...972-lt1-2.html

And the difference is mentioned again here- http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...r-spotted.html

Any further discussion on those two bigblocks?

....but HONEST!!!

If the '72 tach for the LT-1 was set at 6500, so be it. But, I'm not sure the '72 LT-1 engine would actually wind that high.

My info (unofficial) indicates that peak power for the '70 LT-1 was at 6000 rpm; for '71 at 5800 rpm; and for '72 at 5600 rpm. I guess the 6500 redline was just a marketing ploy...

68 l-36. (L thirty six)

For some reason an upper case "L" cannot be typed with a dash(-) or number next to it?

Is that the same source that says the L36, L68, and 1971 LS5 all redline at 5400 RPMs?

Edit: Notice in my reply that both your and my "L's" are upper case, but both appear as lower case after clicking on Submit Reply.

My initial response on this thread indicates the redline data I have for those engines. So, NO, they are not all 5400 rpm.

What....EXACTLY....is your problem?????

My EXACT problem is that you continue to put out inaccurate info. It misleads folks who don't know the correct answers. If you don't like to be corrected, make sure your info is true before you post it. Simple, no?

You must be one of the ELITIST NCRS members. There are many who are not, but your attitude demonstrates that you are in that 'mold'.
