Rare C-3 accessories
I am curious to see what kind of not often seen or totally forgotten about add ons that were available for the C-3 back in the day but no longer made. Factory stuff is fine but I really want to see the aftermarket stuff.
It could be even an old add for a product or a picture of the item not installed. Anything Old School Corvette.
I would bet that some of you might have something put away that you may even forgotten about till now. Well then dig it out, And take a picture.

The early C3's came with a speed warning option. You could set the speedometer to say, 70 mph. When you exceeded 70 mph there'd be an audible alert. It was all mechanical. When the speedo needle hit 70, it'd close a contact to set off the alarm.
Also, the C3 rear window defroster. Pretty rare on coupes and even more rare on convertibles, I believe. It was an electric fan, underneath the coupe and convertible deck immediately under the rear window. I think it may have had heating elements to blow warm air.

I was thinking "death trap" describes it better.
I have this option at the top of my "worthless" list. I wonder if there is a speed warning that is not turned up to, say, 120 mph so that you don't typically hit it.

Safety Car
Back in 1980 everyone and their dog was bolting rear window louvers on the Corvette, Camaro and Firebird.

Hi Pete,
I'd never seen one of the child seats.
It actually looks dangerous just sitting there. How was it held in place? The seat belt?
We really WERE just at the beginning of making crashes survivable!
Regards,
Alan

Pete, I remember that car seat, we had one that me and all of my sisters grew up using, it was a bluish color if I remember correctly. The plastic over the front bar always cracked and had to be taped.

Hi belaire,
It DOES!
Notice the seat 'cushion' shape and pattern appears to similar to some straight axle era seats.
I wonder when this accessory first became available?
Regards,
Alan

It is held in place by the seat belt. I think Bizzoco has a picture of one installed in a corvette, page 5 maybe?
So, if this is original safety equipment, am I legally allowed to strap my 1-year old into it?

My 82
Wow, I was wondering where and how those rub marks came about on my just acquired 82 and I think you hit the nail on the head. BTW, I has louvers on my 78 Pace Car (the one piece abs type) back in the day and I know for a fact they were only good up to 95 mph at which time they would self-destruct and be sucked-off the car...
