Default Engine ID 'special cam' question

I was looking on a corvette fact site that gives information about the numbers on our cars and came across one for Engine Identification. Ours has HW in the code and on this site it says that means our car has a 350/350 with a Rochester Q-Jet, 'special cam' and 4 speed.

Can someone please tell me what the term 'special cam' means?

Hi CA,
I believe that refers to the description of the cam being 'high lift'. (Compared to the cam in the 300 hp engine.)
This was 'lingo' I remember being very common among car guys in the sixties.
Regards,
Alan
