Is there any value in an original radio out of a '77 with an 8 track (doe snot work, as far as I can tell--but I only had 1 8 track to test it, and it could be the tape is bad)...
To someone needing one to complete a rebuild that they want to have as original as possible I would say yes. I wanted to get an AM/FM cassette for my 80 just to put on the shelf to replace the original one that Bubba removed in his infinite wisdom.
Although my car is not stock, it like it to look, for the most part correct. Having the right radio in the interior was a must. So I would say its worth something to somebody in need of one.
All you need to do is locate a nursing home resident with a '77 Corvette. Surely, they will still have some cherished Barry Manilow 8-track tapes that the neighbor ladies would just swoon over!!
I learned a long time ago that whatever you have...if it still works...someone will want. Stick it on eBay and see what happens.
P.S. I think that 'adage' holds true in the nursing homes, too. (wink, wink; nudge, nudge)
There is nothing special about a radio so basic as the C3's. I never use my radio, so i've left mine alone. I would say that it would be worth a few bucks just in parts, but not as much as a working radio. If you sold it, and got a few dollars….count yourself lucky. If you kept it, just know it is not really going to make you rich. It is up to you I think.
