69 Restore install BEGINS
Hi MFt,
There WAS a strip of foam between the ss reveal molding and the windshield frame.
It was impregnated with some very sticky sealer that held it in place. It was about 5/8" wide and very thin… maybe 1/16" to 1/8" thick.
There was a strip of something very similar to today's 3M strip sealer between the reveal molding and the weatherstrip retainer. It had a string in it to stop it from breaking in pieces when it was installed.
A couple of pictures.
Regards,
Alan
The retainer pulled back showing the sealer with string.

The foam strip. This is on the roof panel ss trim, but the foam strip is the same.

Perfect, I have that tape and it is like you said about 5/8 wide. So it goes against the frame and the weatherstip is sealed with 3m on the other side.
Mike that is looking absolutely fantastic! The paint is beautiful! The wagons are cool too. So glad you have gotten your project so far along. What did you use for insulation on the underside of the body after the Lizard skin. Just the tunnel insulation? Anyway looks great. As others have said, don't get into big of a hurry. Be sure and fit test those pieces and don't mar any of that triple black! It is coming along great and you will soon be on the road! Congrats for job well done!
