Default Missing fan shround...

My car (L48) is missing the fan shroud extension... it doesn't overheat (at least not yet) but I'd still like to have it in place.

Anybody have one for sale?

No Mustang parts around here What year is your car (early/late) since that will make a difference in the shape and size of the shroud. You may want to post this in the Parts For Sale section to since you can place items that you Want To Buy WTB

Good Luck,

Eric

What model year? Are you sure you need the extension - usually factory AC cars got them.

Oooopps. car is a '73 with L48/350 & factory air.. it has a partial shroud now, but needs
the extension that moves it back closer to the fan. Part is NLA. Might be able to get by
using a partial extension from a 454 style radiator set up...

I don't know enough about it yet to make an informed decision.

Still learning over here.

I have not put on a shroud extension on my 73L-82 w/AC and have not had any cooling problems. Plan to add one to make it look correct.
Most vendors carry them; SB extension is a full circle. BB extension is a quarter circle and fits on the bottom of the shroud.

I had been looking for one some time back and didn't like the aftermarket pieces. They are way too thick and too much money for the junk that they are. Several months later, I found one at a swap meet.

The extensions for the other engines are not the same. Keep looking!

P.S. You could always make one out of sheet aluminum and paint it to look similar.

Yeah, I could fab something up that would work and wouldn't look terrible, but I was really more after that OEM look for the shroud extension...

I know the big block cars used partial extensions, I was hoping one of those on the top of my existing shroud might look OK.

Have not driven the car enough to know if overheating will be a big problem... on my way home with it during the first drive, I got caught in traffic for about 15 minutes and it did creep up to 210ish, but that was without the A/C operating... once I got back underway, it went right back down to 190ish (my guesstimate)...

One of my first tasks after getting the dash & interior reassembled will be to get the A/C system back in operable shape. That should really tell the story on how much I need the the additional shrouding.

btw... looks like Corvette Central has 'em available for 100.00 plus shipping... not sure if it's a repop though.

I believe that they sell the aftermarket 'repops'. IMO, you would be better off making one out of 1/8" aluminum and painting it.
