Under layment pattern?

Under layment pattern?

Anybody seen or have a pattern for the under layment for the carpet on a '73 C3? I'll (hopefully) be ready to start installing my insulation and carpet next week.

Is there even such a thing available?

I just finished replacing the complete carpet on my 73. My carpet from ACC had all the backing on it.
I still have my old carpet that I could take a photo of if you really want that, but the backing on the new carpet was good enough for me.

I've got a 6 x 6 roll of bulk under layment I wanted to cut up
and use as I begin to reinstall y interior. I'm trying to get an idea
how the individual pieces should be shaped...

Hi m,
The original underlayment was very intricately shaped and cut.
Although the original carpet wasn't that terrific it did fit/lay quite well and I guess the underlayment contributed to that.

Thanks for the great pics...

Is the under layment (lightly) glued to the floor and trans tunnel?

Also, they recommended I install with the mastic side facing down..

I checked my new carpet this afternoon and the floor and back bulkhead pieces already
have jute style backing in place...

My thought is cut and cover similar to the above photo ^^ and then just lay the carpet on top using as little adhesive as I can get away with.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi m,
I was trying to obtain an original appearance so used very little glue anywhere.
A few lines of it on the bulkhead right behind the seats, and a little in the driver's side foot-well in the area of the dimmer switch pad.
The rest is loose.
