I have a true 327 out of a 62-63 corvette. It has the rear vent hole by the distributor. For those who know, this means it is a true 327 from that era. I also ran the numbers. It has only been sitting for about a month. Interested in trades for 4 wheelers, street bike, car, etc. or sell straight out. Shoot me a offer. Text me at
Is this for real ? Just wondering about the vent hole and why would it be there only during this type of motor .
Every Chevy small block (265, 283, 302, 327) from 56-67, had the vent hole in the rear of the block. On 62 and earlier engines, it vented through a tube, down along side of the bellhousing, to the ground. On 63-67's, it vents into the base of the carb.
From the way I read it, the OP isn't trying to sell anything, he is just asking a question about a Craigslist ad.
Correct Sir. Just trying to find out about the 327 in the ad. The ad poster sounds like he is trying to point this out to make the motor sound special. I am going to ask for the numbers, to find out more about the motor.
