Default Cooling the BB

hi from MN,
so first some back ground, basic frame on resto you know kids wife thing and a budget.
kids are now grown and I got the Vette in the divorce

Motor rebuild, was told to change to an Aluminum Radiator.
11 years and 8,000 miles later while flushing the tranny, the line in to the trans port on the radiator spun and leaks badly now.
I contacted Griffin about my troubles to get it repaired

this is part of there reply

Thank you for contacting Griffin Radiator. I’m glad yours lasted so long!

After 2 years of service they say its not worth repairing but if I mail it too them they will build me a new one.

Has anyone else had this problem, I mean $699 for a radiator to go 8k
where is the Value

I look forward to your comments good or bad

Thanks Scot

Aluminum radiators are going for $ 200 to $300 depending. Walk away from that company and dont look back.

It's not particularly the miles; it's the years.

If the damage is accessible on the outside, clean the radiator well (internally) and take it to a good welder. Your vendor just needs another new car payment.

11 Years is a great return on investment.

The coolant and water eating away at the radiator doesn't care how long you drove it.

the failure is some type of brass seal, and not worth removing the tank and tranny cooler to close the holes, and add a larger external trans cooler.
so with said.

the car came with 275hp now has 406hp 508tq
I still have the original radiator.
will that be enough to cool it?

Should be if it's otherwise in good shape. Why would your 406 horses run any warmer than 275hp?
