Well I am a C3 owner again! I bought her this morning. Won't take delivery till Tuesday because the title is at the bank. Wish me luck on my new adventure. One small thing I noticed this morning while test driving it is the door ajar light stays on, might just be a door switch adjustment. So what books do I need in addition to the AIM? I used the 15 year old tires/ smoke on engine start as my big bargaining points. The one kind of puzzling thing on the car is the strip of metal that goes across the body just aft of the headlights is rusty to a point of beginning to delaminate? There is also some rust in the bird cage where the doors bolt on but it is just heavy surface type rust all the other steel components under the dash showed no signs of rust. All the bonding strips I could see looked to be in very good shape. I intend to use this car as a local driver just for fun so no HP increase at O/H are planned. I love driving a C3 I find them to be very comfy and spirited and I look forward to many miles and years of proud ownership. Mike

Congratulations! Happy to see you got that C3 and it sounds like you got it for less than, what the seller wanted. It was smart too, previewing it here, got a lot of good opinions and they were all favorable!

Congrats! I got my 77 about a year ago after extensive research and literally a couple years looking at a lot of cars. Based on what I saw around here... I think you did good on price. Enjoy!!!

for a list of recommended books to purchase, see this thread.

The rusty metal part behind the headlights is a known issue: there are plenty of threads here on fixing it.

Also, don't drive on 15-year-old tires: that's an accident waiting to happen. Get new shoes ASAP unless you plan to have it parked for a while.

Congrats on buying your C3.
