I'll be installing my new carpet this weekend . Its a Pre-Molded / Pre Cut set . My question is , what's better just laying in , using a lilttle adhesive , or glue down 100% ...
Thanks in advance
I think you'll find many answers to that question as some glue it down and others (including me) have left it loose with no issues.
The real question you need to ask yourself is if you should be considering the installation of sound/heat insulation while the carpet is out! These cars are notorious for heat seepage and now is the time. I used Dynomat, but, there are a ton of lower cost options out there.
FWIW: rear is likely to need adhesive. The seats hold the fronts in place, so less adhesive necessary on those. Just the same, in any area where you're trimming and fitting, adhesive may be necessary.
Thanks ...
And yes , I've already put down a heat / sound barrier kit that I ordered from a company & on top of that , Reflectix...so I'm good to go . Just was wanting to hear a few ideas
I recently did mine and found that some areas fit great and some don't,so depending on how yours fit will determine how much adhesive to use. I used it in spot places where your feet are, rear fender wells and waterfall. I used heavy duty Velcro strips at the top of the waterfall that wraps over to the back.Good luck
The front floor pieces (molded) and the storage compartment rear piece need to be retained using replacement rubber plugs like used at the factory. With heat on the firewall, ANY glue you use to hold up the front of those pieces will degrade quickly and allow them to sag. Those plugs are readily available from any Corvette parts supply place that sells the carpet for them.

Plugs ?? Where & how ..there was none in my carpet when I pulled out & it seemed like original

My '72 had two or three plugs through the upper edge of the carpet into the firewall on each side and three at the rear compartment upper edge facing the gas tank. The outside is about one inch in diameter and shaft about 1/2 inch OD.

What year?
On my 73, the carpet just fitted under a rubber piece under the dash for the front carpet.
On the rear, there are 3 at the top of the carpet that ran up the back above the courtesy light.
My Mistake , its an 82 model .....and I believe the back piece is held in place at the top my a sewn in plastic strip along the top . Was just wondering about the rest .
AND i just realized that i thought the kit was going to have complete console side pieces . Wrong , it just came with the carpet and my dumb self threw my old ones away .
I done mine last winter. If you are putting in a insulated padding. You only need to glue sides . Make sure , you DON'T trace the old ones to match hole ,they maybe off and you will probably trim some excess. GOOD LUCK. :-)
