Anyone know where to find a date for a Firestone Super Sport,Wide Oval F70x15 tire. I just dropped my spare & wonder how old it is.
The code is 000L C332

Hi M,
I don't think the Firestone production codes have been deciphered.
You can get an idea about the tires age by it's construction.
The tires used from 1968-1972 were nylon cord. This is part of the raised info that's on the tire.
A belted tire is a later production tire.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan! They are nylon. That explains why I could not find this info

I thought the tire used by the factory in 69 was Goodyears. I remember seeing that in the MF Dobbins book. Is that not correct?

I believe it was both Goodyear and Firestone.

Hi M,
A nylon cord tire is almost always a nice find!
Especially for those interested in originality judging!

Hi ed427,
My understanding is that the 3 manufacturer's F70-15s were available for use starting in 68 (as black wall, red stripe and white stripe) and it was the Raised White Letter that became available during 69 production.
Regards,
Alan
