Installed a original wiper switch and **** on my 69 and every time I touch the switch I get shocked. I have it ground to metal bar next to radio but still cant get it to stop. Any help on how to fix this problem would be appreciated.
If you're getting shocked, then it isn't grounded properly.
Unless the wiring is bubbafied, why did it need grounded to the bar next to the radio?
Come to think of it, isn't the **** on the wiper switch a non-conductive plastic? How are you getting shocked?
Maybe the metal center console (that holds the gauges) isn't grounded properly?
The factory ground the switch to the metal gauge pod which is grounded by the main wiring harness by the radio metal piece where the console is screwed in to secure movement. Unless its bubbaed in my car. My **** is off right now and that's what's shocking me. I'm not sure how to ground the center console. Even if the **** is off I don't think it should shock me. I believe something is wrong or is it?https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...lies/crazy.gif
12 vdc won't give your body parts an electrical shock. If you have a vinyl interior, I suspect that you are creating a static charge with clothing/vinyl and what you are feeling is a static electricity DIS-charge. The fact that you installed an 'extra' ground to this area may be the reason you are discharging at that location. If it were not grounded, that shouldn't happen.

I agree with you 7t1vette, 12vdc shouldn't shock me. I have to rule static out because once static is discharged it would have to build back up, but I can retouch the switch seconds later and get zapped again. Just to be clear I did not install extra grounds i'm connected to the factory harness ground only that comes out of the
Hi C400,
Have you checked the ground connection under the shifter console where the wiper relay is located?
It's 2 18 gauge wires on one connection to a spade on the side of the heater/defroster controller.
The relay is mounted just forward of the heater controller.
Maybe?
Regards,
Alan
