I am wanting to get new covers and foam for my seats on my 1972 vette. I want to get the 1978 Oyster color. Does anyone know if I ordered new foam and new covers for the 1978 if it would fit on my 1972 vette seat frames? Has anyone tried this or does anyone have any advise for this conversion?
Regular production straight back 78 seats are similar to 70-77. Why not contact the oyster upholstery manufacturer, tell them what you want to do, and see what they say?
Along similar lines, what are you intending for other 72 trim parts. They won't be oyster.
i am planning on dying all my existing interior parts (they were originally the saddle color). So I plan on getting the new seat covers and then taking them to the OEM paint people and getting them to make me a paint dye to spray all the interior pieces so they will match perfectly. That's the only option I know of and most of my interior trim are in excellent condition...thank goodness!!

Corvette Central (CC) gets their seat covers from Corvette America (CA). CA will sell custom upholstery direct to you for less than if you go via CC.
I had CA make me 78-82 seat covers in '71 dark saddle when I put the later seats in my '71. I think the surcharge was 20% for the custom color. They made it very quickly, just a few days.
I'm very happy with the result. They match the interior perfectly.
have you ever sat in the later seats? looks are one consideration, comfort to me is king. if you are smaller person, later seats are ok. bigger you won't fit as well. I have one of each, I'm bigger, much prefer my '75 seats.
