Default Check out this original interior

You don't see interiors this original and this new too often, 30,000 original miles. Unreal original from top to bottom.

Original windshield is super nice.

Hi,
Yes, that does look like an especially nice original interior!
What's the rest of the car like?
Regards,
Alan

Looks great! I like showing off my original interior too. I appreciate seeing someone taking care of their car.

I'll have some pictures soon, just finishing up the paint. The lacquer was starting to go so we painted it back in the correct red oxide primer and fresh lacquer (pain to match the color but left the door jambs original).

Check out the original front grills, these are original, not redone just cleaned with soap/water. The flash makes them look a little nicer then they are but you get the idea. The front spoiler is a new NOS one we had.

Check out the ink stamping on the original carb.

Getting her ready to sell soon so I'll post more as I have time to work on her.

We just go lucky and found a paint store that still had some to mix. I guess there is only 1 manufacture that still makes it?

We spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on test pints to get the color as close as we did. Not to mention multiple calls to the paint manufactures "color library" department. The materials just are not available any longer.

I'm very happy with the end result, the bodies just look different with lacquer on them rather in b/c.

Hi,
I believe acrylic lacquer is still available for sale in Pennsylvania and a few people are still spraying it.
It gives a look like no other paint.
Regards,
Alan

Hi LPE,
Sorry for the hi-jack!
Lacquer gets me all "light headed".
That IS a nice spoiler….. very hard to come by!
It would be nice to see some more pictures of the car you're working on.
Regards,
Alan

Sweet car. Mine is very similar, original interior other than the carpets which had already been pitched before I bought the car. I am sure that the bright blue would not have held up as well, but my seats and dash were great.

I am also lacquer, painted in 86/87, but they put a few layers of clear over the lacquer.

Back when Toyota started improving their paint, my dad's shop had a hard time matching the paint on repair jobs. He discovered that mixing the paint with clear 50/50 they could get a good match.
I tried this on several lacquer jobs and started mixing lacquer paint and clear lacquer 50/50 on the last couple of coats and really like the results.

The shop I worked at back in the 80s did exactly the same (50/50 with color and clear)... Worked very nicely!!!
