Default 1971 LT1 #'s matching with Automatic?

Hi ,Need some help from the experts.Found a 71 Corvette in Germany for sale as a Numbers matching LT1.Only problem is it has an Automatic. As far as I know the LT's were only available with 4 speeds.
Sure would like to know if things are on the level before dropping $50k on a fake.

http://www.rdclassics.de/oldtimer/Ch...r=1839&taal=DE

VIN # don't tell much cause the engine options were'nt added until 72,but here it is anyway.

194371S114454

Any info would be appreciated.

It's your typical 270hp base engine car. Not worth $50k (in the U.S. at least).

All LT-1's came with a 4sp. A/C was only available in 1972 with the LT-1, around 240 built. LT-1's also use a different hood than what is on the car pictured.

Funny thing is,if you poke around their Showroom, they have tons of old muscle for top dollar. They claim to be experts and try to pawn off a base model as an LT1.Either they're not the experts they claim to be ,or they're knowingly misleading people.
I doubt I would buy a lawnmower from these guys now.

Will stick around and see what someone else might have to add.

Hi R,
It actually looks like a pretty nice car from what can be seen in the pictures.
The seller can't really be trying to pull a fast one because even the data plate on the console indicates what the car is…. a 350/270 car.
Except for the round exhaust tips the exterior looks pretty much like you'd expect a 71 to look.
The interior appears to have leather seat covers but standard door panels which wouldn't have typically been available.
If it wasn't for the incorrect LT-! description …it appears to be a car worth checking out.
Regards,
Alan

I wonder if they put the wrong description with the wrong car. The text in the ad says 330 HP. The air cleaner decal clearly shows 270.

The dealer can't be that dumb.

I sent the seller a mail asking for info and was told in the reply that it has the CJK motor code for automatic and that makes it an LT1 with
automatic.

He's a bit touchy on the subject.Wasn't gonna buy it anyway.I'm happy with my stock modified 79 mn's L48.

OK, he is that dumb.

That code is definitely base engine with auto and NOT LT-1. An early GM book had that mistake it in, I think it was corrected many years ago.

I am sure he has already got several comments on the car stating it is NOT an LT-1. Probably explains why he is a bit touchy.

Nice car.. I don't know what the Europe prices are, but just pay nice car base engine price for the car and not a LT-1 price.

100 pics and none of the underside.. watch out for rust!
