Default 72 Interior Color Question

I need some help identifying the interior color in my 72. I am looking to get new seat covers, carpet, floor mats, etc. I have looked at several of the vendor's selection for carpet. For my year I have seen colors advertised as royal blue, dark blue, bright blue, medium blue and a few others. The only one I saw that had the actual picture of the color shown was royal blue but it looked much brighter than this, but could be due to the way the picture was taken. Does anyone know what color matches this?

Hmmm, I think we can rule out dk blue. dont think its bright blue either. My guess is royal blue. Contact Willcox or your fav vendor and see if they can send samples.

"Royal" blue is not a Corvette trim color. Blues were either dark or light depending on model year and availability.

What is the code on your trim tag? 412 was blue vinyl for 1972.

72 was only available with one blue interior, and Chevrolet just called it "Blue". The Trim Code for it is "412", and it only came in vinyl, not leather. The same code 412 blue was used in 71, though Chevrolet called it "Dark Blue" in 71.

Corvette America calls the 71-72 interior blue, "Royal Blue". From what I remember of the 71-72 blue interior is a bit darker, than the interior in your car, though it may be just the photo, causing it to look lighter.

Here's a link to Corvette America's website, showing their 71-72 Royal Blue seat covers.

Both Corvette America and Al Knoch, will send you a sample. Call them both, and ask them to send you a swatch of their 72 blue vinyl. If neither of their samples match, then you'll have to try to figure out, exactly what color interior may be in your call.

Hi,
From the appearance of the seats it appears to me that the seat covers and foam bulsters have been replaced at some time…. can't really see enough of the door panels and dash pads to tell about those.
So a sample of a present #412 vinyl color may or may not be different than what's presently in the car.
Regards,
Alan

All, thanks. Wilcox has some actual pictures of the carpet, and it looks like Royal blue matches mine. I will get some vinyl samples for the seat, but may go with leather upgrades instead.

Default 1972 interior

I too have a 72 and going through the same thing you are! Mine is a tan or saddle color.. Light saddle medium saddle or dark saddle are my colors to choose from........ Ended up choosing light saddle....now the new door panels dont match any of my other items I bought....(leather seat covers and carpet) Now getting advice on Mr Vinyl spraying ALL of the interior hard parts and dash area! It never ends...... You would think the VENDORS would have the CORRECT colors for the year we have????? I received Leather samples from the three best vendors that I had heard about and not ONE of the Light, Medium or the Dark matched from one vendor to the other????? I had three choices for each color!!!! So I hope you have better luck than I have had so far...... I guess that multiple colors is the norm.......
