You guys with the warm weather - you're lucky. You guys with the stoic statements are liars - you know as well as anyone that you will miss looking out in your garage at that masterpiece design, especially come the dog days of winter. And yes, I have snowmobiles and skis, but nothing beats an evening cruise with my wife, or wondering how it got in my garage - now storage facility. Brian K. Is the most honest one of us of us all .
You all should get together and set a date and all drive your vettes down here for a week. Then you can cruise the beaches in the best weather there is and enjoy your vehicles. I won't lie, our winters are what we look forward too all year long. The summers with the humidity sucks. But now that there is a breeze and the temps dropped from 100 to 75, its simply gorgeous. Whats better is that I can spend it with my wife! Its been one year since she was diagnosed and treated. Hair is growing back and theres a smile on her face.!!!
just went home and drove ours back to work, 58 today, and low 60s tomorrow, then I'm certain it will be bye bye till spring. Short season for us, but I managed to clock around 700 miles on the new engine.

I would love nothing better than some form of get together in your beautiful part of the world Dave. My parents have neighbours who winter in Hollywood. I'm really happy to hear of the wonderful news about your lovely wife. I can't begin to imagine what the last two years have been like for you; but you guys have come through it together.........and you DIDN'T sell the vette!!!!!!!! All the best.

Thank you very much! This forum helped me in many ways coping thru this ordeal. David Howard was a great help also.. Just knowing that you guys are here is great. If you ever do come down, please look us up. I would deff. call in a sick day at the Jail, to cruise with any member in our vettes.
I am not familiar with your Wife's affliction but it sounds like cancer. BUT, she is smiling again and that is very good news! I wish your family well!

Turn green **** on battery to the left. Put on cover. Come back in April.
Daanbc - I am with you that this is my favorite time of year to drive too here in Tampa FL. Summertime I wait until it's dark out mostly cause it's too dang hot with no AC in mine on those 95 degree days.
At first I didnt get it because that is an 80-82 model , then I recalled here in Orlando we have it pretty good, I think in Jan in the ncrs meet, I look forward to the swap meet, might even have a car to drive to it, the weather will be really nice
Here in Connecticut they use this stuff on the roads, magnesium chloride I think it's called, it's very caustic, so I wouldn't want to get any of that stuff anywhere near my cars chassis, I just put it away, and after the first few rainstorms in April, the roads are useful again
Regards
Roy
Are you saying that ALL cars are parked in the garage for the winter? If so, how do people get around to go to work, etc.? Or does the snow cause a unique set of problems for the corvette? On another matter, nice looking house.
The Corvette is in commercial storage during the winter. My DD (Chevrolet Cruze LT) is in the garage. The green posts in the pic are driveway guides for a snowblowing service I contract to. They hadn't been by when I took that pic. They are very good in removing what you see. No problems re grocery getting.
Thanks for the kind comment on the house. This is our retirement home. Four bedrooms for two people but what the heck....
Cars that you want to last more than 5-10 years are not subjected to harsh and massive amounts of salt. Daily drivers here can be in need of severe body/floor replacement in as little as 5-7 winters. Never mind the wear and tear on brakes, suspension, etc. I replace my commuter car every 3 or 4 years, but always with a good used model - usually something 4 or 5 years old that's been winter stored, or used lightly in winter. I put about 60,000 km a year on them; and usually always replace with the same type of car, a Honda Civic Si. The motors run forever, but the bodies are toast by the time I'm done with them. I don't have the heart to subject a new one to the abuse I put mine through, so my wife gets the new one as she works locally and keeps the mileage low on it. We just put her in a new Chrysler 200 S AWD, and the first thing we had done was get it rust proofed. It's just a part of life where we live; so if you want a vehicle to last, it needs to be kept away from salt in the winter.

You can't avoid the salt on the roads. My Cruze is protected by Krown rustproofing. You may find this amusing: I bought the Cruze new in June of 2013 and the odometer now shows 8,600km (5,375 miles). I live within ten minutes of the beer store, LCBO, Canadian Tire, two supermarkets, my doctor, Home Depot, my Chevrolet dealer, and more. I do not need to commute being retired. What's rush hour?
8600km?????? I've put that on in a month!!!!!!! Just one more reason for me to be jealous Paul. Let's hope your snowblower guy isn't too busy this year.

The company is well-equipped to handle the big snow dumps. They are here early in the morning and then follow city plows by GPS to take care of later fill-ins. Great service.
