Well, that was helpful.
Anyway, hang in there and you're sure to get some good info on how to go about updating to them. IMHO they look far more appropriate on an early C3 than do later gen mirrors. ...or even the somewhat dated (too C2'ish) originals for that matter.
Too each there own and they do look good but you have a classic that is cool to look "classic"...
I like these, they are found on things like GT40's and AC Cobrs but seem to flow well on restro rod road race type c3's, at to me they do, just tossing this option at you,
but I got ones that install from outside the door seems "tricky" to install door mirrors and get inside the door for ones that bolt on from inside,
I know some may not approve, but I am building my car for me. I love the lines of the classic bumper cars, the only thing that looks out of place to me is the huge mirrors on a 6 inch pedestal. mine is a convertible and with the top down as it will be 90% of the time the mirrors really stick out. I thought about no mirrors at first then decided on the later 78-82 style sport mirror.

To me I just like a classic C3 to look like a classic C3
I believe the more original it is the more my happy my classic makes me feel.
I do not like to add after market parts or another car parts to my C3 but hey this is a free country lol whatever makes you happy go for it the only bad thing that adding parts that does not belong to the original car design from factory it will make it look odd to others who really appreciate a classic car besides adding non factory parts designs it will devaluate the price of your car.but I might be wrong

I will never sell it so the value makes no difference to me. The 78-82 sport mirrors were designed by GM for this same door, I would not put a generic mirror or some mirror from another car on it. anyway I have a new pair of 71 mirrors and just bought a pair of 78 mirrors. I will have to decide.
I have seen several early cars with the 78-82 sport mirrors and I like the look. does anyone have install pictures. thanks
When I was first looking at getting my vette, I somewhat liked the later mirrors on the early cars and in doing my Google search, saved off several vettes that I liked to help me narrow down my search. Ask and ye shall receive:
Ok, that last one is a 73 but it's still considered a chromer.
Nah ! I'm sorry guys but me.
It makes me to remember the 73 mustang mirrors they are kinda of that shape.
The later C3 mirrors on an early C3
It makes me think like a brunette trying to be a blond lol.
But like you said you won't sale it, it's for you.
Ive seen a couple of those pics multiple times and never noticed they had sport mirrors I think they look cool but when I get my body work done I am going with the c6 mirrors

I can see your point. If the car is not original and you plan to keep the car anyway , why not have what you want ? I personally think that they do look good so it's your choice but I will be keeping the chrome on mine and it has a mirror on the passenger side that didn't come that way from the factory but I like it for safety reasons. I'm not really hung up on original. These cars are to enjoy in my opinion.
Sport mirrors mount with studs. Use the gaskets as templates to mark the holes you will need to drill. LH sport mirrors have a remote adjustment cable. Any 77-82 AIM shows how to route the cable around the window track and to the door panel, where to put the hole in the door panel, and how the cable attaches.
