Default Turn Signal Issue

Hello I have just got my corvette back from paint and before I put the rear tail light lens back on I checked lights and turn signals etc... The passenger side rear turn signal is not working. I have changed the light bulb with a known good one still not working. Hazard lights flash only driver side and front lamps. I turn on headlamps and that rear element lights. When I turn on the turn signal the dash indicator lights solid (no flashing) and no light in the back passenger lamp. If I look close at the front lamp it is extremely dim and solid. The sockets are clean with no paint and corrosion. Do the wires run along the side where the door thresholds are. Just trying to see if maybe a wire is pinched. Everything worked fine before the paint job.

Have to agree if they painted the ground wire it may need to be cleaned up. Hope it just that easy because you say it just got painted and possible the ground wire has a bad connection.

Not a ground in the back by the light housing. Any other ideas?

Had a similar problem when I got mine painted.
Took car back to shop and firmly told them it worked when I brought it in.They promptly repaired it.Problem solved.

I get a bad feeling taking an electrical problem to a painter. From the electrical drawing I downloaded it (dark green wire) goes from the steering column and then to a connector somewhere I can not find and then to the lamp. Sounds simple. Anyone know where the disconnect connector is located?

Do you own a pronged test light? They are only about 20 Bucks and when I chased down electrical problems on my 1977 it helped a bunch.

Chasing down wire harness problems are the worst. These links might help you out a little the Rear Wire Harness runs up through the Shift Tunnel above the Transmission. Under the Car you will need it up on Jack Stands to trace the harness from the Tail Lights to the Tunnel. The design pretty much did not change very much for the C3 Generation of cars.

I can almost bet that the Tail/Blinker lights ground somewhere on the Frame under the car or in the Tunnel.

My lights are ALL working now thanks to Willcox Corvette's diagram. It ended up being the connector under the dash. I unpluged it to put 12volts on it and I told myself that I needed to check what is not working and what is working first. So I plugged the connector back together and started with the Hazard lights and they worked so with those working the turn signal should too. Sure enough I tried the turn signal and they worked. The painter must have kicked the connector getting in and out of the car. Everyone thanks for all the help.

Your Welcome glad I could provide the Diagram for you and other places to look. Could have been just moisture slightly corroding the connections also since this connector is very hard to kick.

Sometimes it just something simple like unplugging it and plugging it back in.
