L 82 coupe
Just picked up a 76 L82. It was in the process of being restored. The po did some sanding on the exterior while going through the interior. It is a running and driving car.
I think I'm gonna do a little resto/mod to it. The car seems to be in decent shape.
The tach is stuck at 1500. The heater blower motor has a mind of it's own. I have a coolant leak. Brakes need bled. Other than that all the guages, windows work.
Looking forward to words of advice and working on the car.
Take at least a hundred photos of the entire car, everything, engine Bay , interior, suspension, underneath, differing angles, etc. Put them on your laptop, you'd be surprised how often you'll go back to them. Do this while you're taking things apart as well.
Get a clipboard and a new pad of paper. Devote the first four pages to "To Do" and the the rest to "To Get". Bag and tag EVERYTHING! Companies like U-line sell clear heavy duty zipper bags , with a white block to write on. For the interior, seemingly every piece has it's own screws, don't mix them up. They'll only work there and nowhere else.
If your power windows work, take the door panels off and clean out the 38 year hardened greased out of the tracks and rollers and apply fresh grease. That's among the last things you want to do on these cars, is replacing the motor, among other things.
Before you think of restomodding these cars, measure your skill carefully and do the research. They are tough cars to extensively mod from stock. Hopefully, you read the sticky at the top of this forum, before you even brought it. These cars can have serious hidden rust problems , besides being difficult to work on. You should have advanced mechanical and electrical skills, when dealing with them.
