The episode when they slaughtered the C4 created quiet a outrage in the Corvette community.
I guess they tried to amend themselves with that build.

I guess I am the only one who thinks the c4 was as big a blunder for GM as clear and "new" Coke was for Coke-a-cola....

Probably not. Definitely count me in.
I personally dubbed it "the Corvette designed by the engineers while the designers were busy snorking coke with the marketing team".
The only difference with the new Coke case is that it took 3 more revision to finally get the extravaganza back in.
Fact is the '80s created an incredible number of dull boxy cars.
I bet the truth has more to do with the switch from traditional to computer assisted design which were cumbersome at the time to say the least.

Actually I liked the later C4's. I bought one new (1995) and was in heaven at the time. Then I traded it for a new Dodge truck two years later and took a bath on the trade deal.

Let's continue that stupid us vs. them attitude; frankly, I'd have paid to see Freiburger and whoever his sidekick-du-jour is thrown into Corvette pit and buried after their demand that the Corvette museum let them throw their 77 corvette into the sinkhole.

They actually printed my comments off've the C4 General Forum at the time, in the initial issue of cutting up that C4, back then. Crazy bastards.

They made enough C4s that I have no problem whatsoever with cutting one up for an experiment such as this.

Frankly, I think Roadkill is awesome. I loved the Corvette hack article back when it was printed and I love what they turned it into. They said themselves the car was thrashed and flooded. As far as the sinkhole episode, it was a 75 with a rotted bird cage, that many /here/ would abandon as a project. These guys spend time around cars that cost more money to build than I may ever see in a lifetime, so some of there views don't surprise me.

When you get down to it you have 'Corvette Guys' who say "you can't do that to a CORVETTE!" and you have Hot rodders who say "what /can/ I do with a Corvette?"

They are just old cars.. and if you don't know what mean watch the opening credits of the original 'Herbie the Love Bug' movie and count how many 'classics' were destroyed

It'd be a blast to drive, that's for sure. This thread made me think of a budget race car. Strip down a C4, with the Z51option, put a rollcage in it and then find a used late model dirt track body to throw on and waalah! Willow Springs race track is only fifteen miles from me and race cars can practice for free on the weekdays!

That's not the point - it was classless and rude to say what they did to the person who was showing them the damage at the Corvette museum. I couldn't care less what they did to that car, I simply wonder how finnegan would react if, upon him proudly showing you his 55 chevy, you responded by saying "what an effing old POS, why did you spend so much money on that rusted piece of crap?"

Or even better, when Tom Medley was looking over the smoking hulk of what was his 40 Ford, you said "oh well, now they can crush it and make it into a nice Kia." The topper would be once all those people spent their time and effort rebuilding it - you had publicly commented that it was a waste of craftsmanship...

But then again, classless folks tend to stick together, thus, I'm sure you don't agree.

You expect class from a show that is called "Roadkill"?

Seriously?

Yes, I do - because, last time I checked, Hot Rod magazine claimed to be supportive of all American-made cars. It's funny, Corvette Forum requires that people play nice, yet the jerks always seek to find ways around it. There is a place for people like you, Yellowbullet, just not here.

I to think that would be cool. When I was parting out that 84 last month, my buddy and I talked about how wicked it would be to drop a model A body on the stripped chassis and go hit the AutoX!

I did miss your point, and I agree... Finnegan's comment was :

-Inappropriate? probably

-A failed attempt at levity? yes

-Socially awkward and a little painful to watch? maybe

-Where there legit possitive comments that got left on the editing room floor? probably

-Did they taint my views from there on out? not so much

The way I see it; Part of owning these cars, is the elitist/anti-elitist stigmas that surround them. Whether those attitudes are genuine or merely perceived, we have all confronted them in one form or another. It’s part of the game.

But you are also correct on your second point… I have no class

Save some hate for the "MythBusters" tv show. They ruined a C4 by letting a dead pig rot inside of it just so they could see if they could get the smell out. Waste of a good car.

Finally got to watch the whole video! What a riot! Those guys love Corvettes and had nothing but good stuff to say about the C7. I own a C4 and a few years ago, I was bummed that they cut up an early C4, but the early C4's, were such pieces of crap, that they're really not worth that much, so why not cut one up?

They even mentioned an 'unsafe' race series and said that if they put a really potent motor in the C4-kart, they'd have one kick-but race car and that's a testament to how good the suspension is on the C4! It even works well, in the dirt, as a Baja bug (that's the final part of the video)!

Let's face it, the C4 (especially the early C4's) are plentiful and cheap and I applaud their efforts. The freeway drive was hilarious too!

The C4 body is nothing more than a glorified Camaro. Actually I like the Camaro interrior a lot better than the C4. With that said I did opt to go with C4 suspension on my 57 150.
