Is it feasible to put a late model (77+) heat/ac control panel in a 76? Are the vacuum lines essentially the same? I am doing a custom build on the console/dash and would prefer to do away with the old dial control panel. Everything works fine - I would just prefer the newer model.

OR are there other options/conversions as well?
YES...it can be installed...but it gets quite involved.....QUITE INVOLVED so parts can get mounted and secured correctly...and then there is the electrical issues.
I am not referring to 'butchering' your shift console to get the AC/ HEATER controls to fit....I am talking about changing out interiors designs.

I'm not worried about the mounting/securing part - I'm doing a custom console/dash build already so that is probably the easy part for me. You mention the electrical issues - anything in particular? I was also curious if the vacuum lines are a 1:1 match from the 76 to later C3 models that would allow the swap? Thx!
FWIW: purchase any 77-82 AIM and take a look at how the HVAC controls mount, the vacuum and electrical harnesses, the HVAC diagnostics page, etc., and determine how you want to get it all in your console. Keep in mind, the 77-82 controls are not backlit like the 68-76 set ups.
