Default 68-72 Horn Button question

On my original horn button, the painted trim ring, the corvette emblem, and the metal retainer are all held in place on the 3 posts by what look like rivets? I ordered a new 3 piece unassembled replacement button and have no idea how to keep it together. Weld it? Glue it?

You'll need to 'peen' the 3 posts on the new ring.

Thanks! Just carefully hit each post with a ball peen hammer until it flattens out? Or?

I believe the originals are spin rivets. They used a machine which literally spun the posts down to a rivet head.

If it's anything like the one I bought (also unassembled, no instructions) then no matter what you do the paint will come off the front when you try and put it together. And when you finally get it together, you'll discover that just breathing on the thing will make more scratches. Horrible finish on mine, I'm going to put my repainted original back on I think or repaint the new one, not good quality for sure.
