That would never be the case for me. Rarely, if ever do I do things twice... I do not consider the job done until I attempted three times, broke the first one and then started all over and tried once more.

The 'repeats' for more difficult/puzzling/"why are you even trying", jobs….no one would believe!

I'm trying to duplicate the color and appearance of the rubber sealer that's 'smeared' on the electrical connections on the back-up light switch that's mounted to the transmission.
I'm on my 4th try with the 3rd material.
The really easy jobs only take two or three tries.

I feel I ought to contribute a bit more than just agreeing with F22 like I did above.
I often do things 2 or more times, but it's mostly by choice. I started doing this because about 6 months ago I removed my spare tire carrier to check some things on the rear end and now I'm pretty sure I'm missing some bolts that I had before. I don't like losing things because it's just a self-inflicted wallet drain that I could have avoided. Now, if something's not working right I take it apart and figure out what I need to acquire to fix it, then put it all back together until the new parts arrive. Doing it this way I don't have to remember which bolt goes where, and there's no risk of losing small pieces.

The ever-recurring, never ending journeys into the doors
1st Time 2012: Revamped the passenger door panel and got it back on.
2nd Time 2013: Now the Power Window Motor died, replaced the motor.
3rd Time 2013: The Regulator shat the bed, go back in and replace the regulator.
4th Time 2014: The Window slowly misaligned itself, go back and readjust
5th Time 2015: Door Lock Failed, go in and spend weeks figuring out how the door latch and lock mechanism worked. Figured it out, adjusted it and now it's fixed
6th Time 2015 or 2016: Not yet, but the felt seals need to be replaced on both sides. The potato chip door panel will likely not go on next time. Bingo! New door panels at $700 to $900 a pair. Am I lucky or what?
7th Time: Coming soon, new door glass, both sides.
Car is now nearly new, but still never stops asking me for parts, weekly or monthly. Banks are starting to send me credit cards in my car's name "Sassy the Bitch", because I know who owns who and it ain't me on top.

Well pulling the motor for the second time didn't like the way it ran (getting a rebuild) the exhaust twice already and now thinking side exhaust Guess I need to figure out what I want before I jump

After taking the windshield wiper motor apart three times on my 75 i gave up and just got a new one.

but some of these guys really drive me crazy asking if I know how to put something on I usually tell them well I brought you the old one so I think I'll be fine.

There is a theoretical relationship here that you need to understand:
"The number of attempts required to satisfactorily complete a repair task on a C3 (or any other vehicle) is inversely proportional to the amount of time taken to think about and create a plan for that fix."
Stated differently: If you find a problem and just take a 'stab' at fixing it, you will likely be "fixing it" again....and again...and....
